Alexander Pereira is at the height of his career. He has been confirmed as the intendant of the Salzburger Festspiele (Salzburg Festival). But who is this man who started out as a seller of type writers for Olivetti and who was head of the Zurich Opera for 21 years?
In the portrait film "Alexander Pereira“ the film maker Florian Gebauer tells the story of Pereira as a person up close. He accompanies Pereira to the race of his horse in Rome, shows him at the opening of his foundation for handicapped girls in India. Gebauer shows him visiting his father's grave in Northern India and helps him in his free time, when he cooks Wiener Schnitzel for his friends and starts like Thomas Hampson. The result is an empathetic portrait of the experienced culture enthusiast with his strengths and weaknesses and gives insight into the many facets of his private and public life.
