The "Pfarrerinitiative" (priests' initiative), which Helmut Schüller co-founded has existed fro many years. In June of 2011, however, the initiative suddenly resonated with an unforeseeably large group of people. The reason for this: a call to disobedience. "To me disobedience means to follow your own conscience", says the priest. More than 400 priests and deacons have signed the concrete demands: abolishment of mandatory celibacy, communion for remarried divorcees and members of other confessions, lay preaching and resistance against the consolidation of parishes. 

Helmut Schüller wants to expand his initiative to an international network. Florian Kröppel follows him on his way, talks to supporters and critics of the movement and shows the international reactions to the initiative.
