Freak Waves
A film by Kurt Langbein & Maximilian Stelzle
TV documentary -

Freak waves are giant waves – up to 40 meters high. Up until a few years ago, however, reports of such waves were believed to be merely sailors spinning yarn.

In this film, Kurt Langbein and Maximilian stelzle document four encounters with such monster waves – some fatal. The team interviews survivors of the catastrophes caused by the waves and tells the stories of those who did not survive the encounters with the "monsters of the sea". At the same time, the film provides insight into the international efforts to research the origins of freak waves and make them predictable.
