Hermann Maier is one of the exceptional athletes of our time. The repeat winner of olympics and world cups he is long known as "the Herminator" in Austria and beyond. August 2001, however, on a sunny late summer's day, Maier has a serious motorcycle accident, His right lower leg is almost cut off and heavily injured.

This film shows the athlete's recovery and his hard fight to reach the top spot in alpine skiing. The audience follows him through the rocky way back and lives through the highs and lows, all while seeing the ski legend Hermann Maier from a new perspective.
