As early as 1970, the young meteorologist Paul Crutzen was able to predict that chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) damage the earths atmosphere.
In 1974 the scientist Sherwood Rowland proved Crutzen's theory through experiments. Together they managed to outlaw the use of CFCs in spray cans in 1978. In 1987 finally, CFC production was decided to be terminated completely. "The Ozone Hole" shows the two men's efforts and their research, which led to the end of CFC production.
